My Leadership Standards!
Communication
I like to say communication is a skill of mine. I love to talk to people and reach out to everyone that I know.
•1.The student leader creates eye catching, effective posters and flyers.
•I have always found making posters fun and effective. I think that making posters is a fun way for people to look at information and see what is going on. Posters are very useful in this class because we do posters for information, decorations and announcements. I love to draw and make it look good for everyone to look at and pass by in the halls.
2. The student leader creates a resume and/or portfolio.
-In our Leadership class this year, we created our very own resumes and even though I already had a resume before, it was very helpful and taught me a lot of new things to put on a resume.
Personal and Social Development
I am a very friendly and outgoing person that works well with others and gets along with everyone!
1. The student leader acknowledges different personality types and how to work together in an all-inclusive group setting.
• This year, we did a leadership development day inviting all the high schools in Tracy to come together in our main gym and talk about creating community and how to improve our leadership class and get different ideas from all off the schools. This was a great day to bond more with our schools in Tracy and the speaker helped us further our understanding of being a leader!
2. The student leader supports decisions of the group.
- There was a lot of events in Leadership this year that our class had to choose the themes for. I was not a fan of some themes we had this year, but I learned to just go with it and see what my other classmates came up with and it turned out to be very eye opening when the themes ended up looking good even though they would not have been my first choice. It was a great lesson that I learned from that class and will take with me in college.
Civic and Service Learning
I am very engaged with my community and school. I also do community service whenever I get the opportunity to do so.
1. The student leader develops partnerships with various student, school, parent, and community groups.
• This year as Link Crew Commissioner, I have made partnerships and friendships with the freshman and create fun activities for them to come to, to make them feel welcome in their new school and new part of their life. I also am very engaged in my community and help out with all the community service chances I get. For example, I brought goodies to the firemen in our town on a holiday since they had to be away from their families on a special day. I like to recognize their hard work and their dedication to the town. I also like to help make Christmas boxes for kids that do not get gifts on Christmas and I make at least 15 of them to send to their homes for Christmas Day.
2. The student leader seeks both school and community feedback to evaluate and reflect upon the impact of the project.
- Our leadership class loves to involve not just the THS student, but as well as our community. We have a main social media account that it public to anyone in Tracy and we are constantly adding and updating that page for people to see. We display it and make it a positive site that everyone can see. We also love to ask for advice and feedback of what the students of Tracy High would like to see from our Leadership class and we try to make it happen every time.
Government
There is a lot of government in leadership and there are procedures you need to follow in the class.
1. The student leader recognizes the ethical and legal implications of following or not following established procedures, rules, regulations, agreements, and contracts.
• I follow all school rules and regulations. I also follow all of the leadership rules and expectations. It is a very important thing to do in leadership because you want to set an example for the students at the school and in order to do so, you need to be a good role model and set the look of a good and responsible student at Tracy High School.
2. The student leader contributes to committees and/or council benefit the student leader program.
- We go into our committees once a week and catch up on what is ahead of us and what we are planning to do in those committees. I always like to contribute in those because it is fun and something I get to look forward to in that class.
Business and Finance
There is a lot of business and finance in leadership and one example of government in fundraising, which our class does very often.
1. The student leader serves as both a participant and leader in various fundraising activities and employs effective sales techniques.
• Our senior class likes to fundraise a lot to gather money to spend on fun events, clothing, and school activities. I like to participate in all fundraisers for my class to help out with all of the fun things we do around and for the school.
2. The student leader identifies a target audience for each advertisement.
- We leadership kids like to involve everyone and sometimes the events we do are not everyone's cup of tea. So this year we made it our goal to also do things that the other kids like to do too. Even though it might be different, we encourage the kids of THS to feel comfortable where they are and crack them out of their shells. We loved to do it this year because it made us all feel like we involved way more kids into our school and brought us all closer together.
Technology and Digital Citizenship
We use a lot of technology in leadership. We are even using this website for leadership!
1. The student leader demonstrates a working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, online forms, and desktop publishing as it relates to their role on the leadership team.
• Two years ago, I was a Sound and Technology commissioner and I learned how to do a lot with that role. This year, I made this website and used my technological abilities to make this website about me and it worked very well! This year with technology I made social media posts that and dates and announcements on them and it helped me realize how technology works and what it is meant for. I learn something new almost every day in class about technology.
I plan to get better in all of these areas to become the best leadership student I can be and set an example for everyone else! I strive to get better at these everyday and will make it a goal of mine to always push myself in these categories!
